About Tashamee Dorsey

Tashamee Dorsey I'm an artist. I write, direct, design and paint. I think, I express and I create.
And I hope what I have to say may move somebody.

There is a lot more too me of course. I have a history. I have done some stuff.

I just moved back to NJ where I first fell in love with story-telling from my mother Barbara Ann and father Ely. I have a degree in Theater from Rutgers University.I've been involved in the Arts and Entertainment industry most of my life. My first on camera appearance was Romper Room at the age of 3. My mom blessed me by surrounding me with actors, directors, writers, producers intellectuals and academics . While I do have a degree in Theater Arts with a concentration in television productions I started learning the art of theatrical production from the time I could talk. My performance credits include The Death of the Last Black Man on Earth,Yerma, Daddy Say and Bye, Bye Birdie(drama camp, gotta love it). My technical credits include The Laramie Project (Director)The Vagabond King, Rachel, Tartuffe (Stage Manager); The Blue Vein Society and The Owl Also Answers (Property Mistress);Cahoot's M Play and Marisol (Costume Designer); The Obscene Bird of Night (Assistant Director); and Nervosis (Production Manager).

I am also becoming an accomplished writer and poet. My published credits in include the poem "Motherless Child" featured in Growing Up Girl (Girlchild Press), an erotic short story "Silk and Satin" featured in Life, Love and Lust (Lesbian Memoirs). I also has a number of poems and stories published online. I consider myself a true story teller exploring as many mediums as possible to get the story across, I write, direct, design and paint. I believe all of these disciplines influence each other and are interconnected.

I am currently finishing a new book entitled "I thought you knew." I am very excited about this book. It's a book of life advice. I came to it when I realized that I was starting over for what felt like the 3 or forth time at the age of 35 and wondered how I got there. Wish me luck in getting it finished. It seems like there is always one more lesson to share. Every experience that teaches me something makes me want to share it with someone. But I gotta find a stopping point.
